Fish output in the region elevated by six.six per cent to 134.22 lakh tonnes (lt) in 2018-19, as towards a hundred twenty five.9 lt in 2017-eighteen, as per provisional estimates, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Giriraj Singh advised the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Andhra Pradesh, with a mixed marine and inland fish output of 39.92 lt, not only remained the leading fish developing Condition, but also elevated its output by 15.7 per cent over the earlier year’s 34.50 lt. West Bengal, which is ranked the 2nd, elevated the output marginally to seventeen.70 lt.
Considerably, Odisha pipped Gujarat to turn into the third major fish developing Condition with 7.33 lt. At 7.30 lt, fish output in Tamil Nadu also surpassed that of Gujarat which slid 13 per cent to 7.twenty five lt over 2017-eighteen.
Singh, quoting a Food stuff and Agriculture Corporation report, The Condition of Earth Fisheries and Aquaculture 2018, explained per capita use of fish in India is from five to ten kg a year.
