PARIS—The passes that restrict access to restaurants, gyms and many other venues across Europe were supposed to be transitory, but with the specter of a winter resurgence of Covid-19 infections, they look likely to stay, at least until next year.
A new bill adopted by the French parliament on Friday will allow for an extension to the health-pass system, until July 31, 2022. The document—offering proof of vaccination, recent testing for, or recent recovery from the coronavirus—is mandatory for everything from sitting at a Parisian cafe to boarding a high-speed train.
