Coronavirus sends hand sanitiser sales soaring

Sales of hand sanitiser in supermarkets more than tripled previous month as fearful shoppers flocked to guard by themselves from coronavirus.

Sales soared by 255pc in February, in accordance to new data from Kantar Worldpanel, while liquid cleaning soap product sales enhanced 7pc and domestic cleansing solutions rose by 10pc.

Fraser McKevitt of Kantar said: “Provided the media concentration around the outbreak of Covid-19 in February, it is unsurprising to see shoppers prudently defending by themselves from sickness.”
